17-year-old orphan's cat suddenly needs vet treatment, she gives up her whole savings to save the family member who means most to her: 'I guess Spider-Man would be proud I did the right thing'

This teenager, living with her older cousin, had little to no family left except for some relatives and her cat. She wanted to buy herself a PS Vita after saving up for months, but when her cat got sick, she gave up everything in order to save him.

This story is one that hits us right in the feels. Every cat owner has to deal with their cat needing some surprise vet treatment at some point, but most of us are more or less prepared for it. It's a whole different thing when you're 17 years old, have no family to support you, and your cat is the only consistent thing in your life. But when it comes down to it, every pawrent would risk everything in order to save their purrecious feline. 

Working for herself, this teen was saving up for a PS Vita. Something that would bring her some joy in her day-to-day life. But then, her cat got sick. What did she do? She gave up her entire savings in order to pay for his vet bills. It's the most selfless, heartwarming thing we've read today, and it fills us with so much hope for the future. 

This post teaches us that material things are meaningless when faced with tough decisions. One commenter said something purrfectly accurate: 'I hope when you look at that kitty face, and see the love reflected in their eyes, you have your answer.' The love of a cat is priceless, especially when you have so few people to support you. You did the right thing, and we're so proud of you.

  • PS Vitas can break, get lost or stolen, and eventually, run out of fun. But a cat? A cat will love you until its last breath. A cat will always cuddle with you at night, even if it means you wake up with cat hair in your mouth. A cat is worth more than 100 PS Vitas, because a cat will always greet you with love when you come home. This is a hard lesson to learn, for sure, but at least she got it right the first time.

  • This, unfortunately, is something you don't realize until you don't have it. You don't realize the hole that is left with you after someone you love is gone. Take it from our purrsonal experience, it can be devastating. All those tiny things you took for granted disappear in an instant. Make sure you kiss you cat and tell them how much you love them every day because you won't have them for furrever. That's just the circle of life.

    HobbyThrobby how you feel about the situation is completely normal, especially after having sacrificed yourself so much to save for the Vita, don't let false-guilt weigh on top too, you've absolutely done the correct thing but that doesn't mean your feelings are wrong or displaced, very normal range of emotions for your context

    One_Film720 Look at it this way: You can always buy another PS Vita. You can't buy another one of your cat. Itll never be the same. The games dont change but you would lose that cat forever.
